Golden brown roasted chicken with a richly fragrant glaze, yes, this Nickel & Nickel recipe for Fig and Syrah Glazed Chicken hits all of our winter menu high marks.
One of our favorite ways to dress up the dinner table, this elegant food and wine pairing is perfect for an easy, elegant Wednesday night supper yet special enough for a last-minute dinner party. It’s also really fun to prepare! We love how it enhances the velvety textures and fruit and earth flavors of the Nickel & Nickel Darien Vineyard Syrah.
Roast easy (we couldn’t help ourselves), this holiday season.

“In my 23 years as a winemaker, I have never produced Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons with as much color and power as the 2013 Nickel & Nickel lineup delivers.” Winemaker Darice Spinelli
Although our wine club members had early access to these powerful wines, we are beyond excited to announce the official release of our 2013 Nickel and Nickel Single Vineyard Cabernet Collection. Some of the wines feel like velvet, while others possess a full-bodied hillside intensity. They’re rich, expressive and drinking beautifully now. At the same time, if you’re looking for a vintage to cellar this is it.

What’s so remarkable about the Nickel & Nickel Medina Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley? When we host tastings and winemaker dinners, we often hear this question asked about a specific single-vineyard Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon in our portfolio. At Nickel & Nickel we passionately seek out extraordinary vineyards, vineyards that not only produce exceptional fruit, but are also uniquely expressive of their AVA. When we find those sites, we farm them with precision, giving each exactly what it needs to achieve the purest expression of its place.
It’s a hands-on process, and the wines that result are truly one-of-a-kind.

Although we are most recognized for making Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from some of Napa Valley’s most exciting appellations, we are also committed to producing a small collection of Russian River Valley and Napa Valley Chardonnays. These wines come from some of our favorite vineyards within each region, and they each offer a combination of fruit flavors, balanced acidity and minerality that is as unique as the soils and climates in which they are grown.
With our Single-Vineyard Chardonnay harvest around the corner, we wanted to introduce you to the first of three Chardonnay vineyards within our Nickel & Nickel portfolio.

Each spring, we introduce a new vintage of Nickel & Nickel Single-Vineyard Cabernet Futures during our annual Futures Barrel Tasting. It’s a lively celebration, as well as a unique opportunity to taste our Single-Vineyard Cabernets while they are still in barrel and reserve some of our most acclaimed (and limited production) wines before they are bottled.

When we tasted the 2014 vintage at last spring’s barrel tasting, it was already showing bright young fruit, yielding tannins and a wonderful richness on the midpalate. We couldn’t believe how well integrated and approachable the wine already seemed to be.
We checked in with Winemaker Darice Spinelli to see how they’re doing now. Her 2014 Cabernet Futures update is below! (more…)
